GAIA is the acronym of “Geomorphological and hydrogeological vulnerability of Italian coastal areas in response to sea level rise and marine extreme events”. GAIA project aims to evaluate the geomorphological and hydrogeological vulnerability to sea level rise of the Italian coasts at national and local scale.


GAIA is funded by the Ministry of the University and Research (contract no. PRIN2022_PE10_2022ZSMRXJ02).


GAIA reflects the methodology applied in the EU projects SAVEMEDCOASTS (Agreement number ECHO/SUB/2016/742473/PREV16) and SAVEMEDCOASTS-2 (Project number 874398) (www.savemedcoasts.eu; www.savemedcoasts2.eu), both funded by DG ECHO.
